Hey, anyone know where to get a light motorcycle cover for storage in the winter to avoid dust? Also wondering about a manual. the guy who I bought my bike from said he couldn't find his manula, and I don't need it enough to buy it new and expensive, but I thought you folks might know. Thanks! Matthew

Hey guys! Greetings from the other side of the hill. My name is Matthew and I am the proud owner of a new Yamaha V Star 1100 Silverado, 2007. I looked for a "New Member" or "introduction" forum, but was unable to find it, so I thought I'd say hello here. If there isn't a forum for that, please put it in an appropriate place. Anyway, I've been riding motorcycles since 1994, but this is my first cruiser. I've always ridden sport bikes before, but I've put several hundred miles on my new bike in the last few days, and it drives beautifully and easily. I am a full patched member of the CMA (Christian Motorcyclers Association). I have custom Vance and Hines Pipes, and Mustang seats, as well as full foot boards for my passenger as well. I'm attaching a picture, if I can, because I couldn't get my profile to let me. Feel free to shoot me a line or contact me. I look forward to meeting you all out there! God bless you guys!

In this tip, Kyle Bradshaw of www.CruiserCustomizing.com discusses the items all riders should think about before heading out on a long distance or motorcycle rally expedition. In this tip you will find accessories for making the miles more manageable, tools for unforeseen adventures, and items often sought after once riders arrive at their destinations.

Accessories for the Road

Wind Protection: You will most likely find a Fairing or Windshiled the greatest way to protect yourself from the wind, the rain or any other outside element. Some of the best fairings are Kuryakyn AirMaster, Sportech, and Hoppe. When it comes to Windshields, Memphis Shades and National Cycle are two of the Industry Leaders.

Comfortable Seat: When talking about racking up the miles, your rear end is often the most abused and often the most neglected body part. Mustang Seats and Saddleman make great seats designed to help you go the distance.

Rear Luggage: In addition to saddlebags, there are many other options available for sissybar or rear seat luggage.

Sissybars or Passenger Backrests: If carrying a passenger, a sissybar is a great way to ensure he or she remains safe and comfortable. Cobra, National Cycle, and Custom World International are three of the industry leaders when it comes to passenger backrests.

Motorcycle Specific Tool Kits and Tire Repair Kit are items you think you can do without... until the need arises. Treat yourself to a quality tool and tire repair kit so you are covered if an adventure arises.

Rain Suit or Wet Weather Gear
: Most motorcyclists hope to ride in sunny beautiful weather all of the time... but then reality hits. Freak rain storms are always possible, and a quality rain suit is the best defense when it comes to staying dry and on the move.

Here are some items you may find beneficial once you arrive your destination.

Motorcycle Security: Locks, Alarms, Covers, Kickstand Disks

Keeping your bike fresh: Rags and Cleaners

Helmets: Full face helmets provide maximum protection and are always our recommendation. However, at many rallies, we have witnessed many riders wearing either novelty helmets, or no helmet at all.  We are sure this is done in order to more fully partake of the rally...  We suggest a DOT approved Half or Shorty Helmet if you choose to go the less protected route.

Before hitting the road, take some time to examine the accessories and tools you have, and make the necessary adjustments to ensure your ride will be safe and memorable!
